The Sanchis Dynasty
Ricardo Sanchis Carpio is the third generation of the Sanchis dynasty of Masanasa, Valencia. He learned directly from his grandfather, Ricardo Sanchis Nácher, the dynasty's founding figure. El Abuelo, the grandfather's c.1945 instrument, is also in this collection. The grandson learned from the man who built it. El Nieto is what he built forty-four years later.
El Nieto and El Abuelo (Sanchis Nácher, c.1945) are the Sanchis instruments held here, grandfather and grandson held simultaneously, forty-four years apart. The dynasty is four generations deep and still active in 2026. The c.1945 and 1989 production tiers are increasingly scarce in specialist trade.
Sanchis Dynasty - Four Generations
Ricardo Sanchis Nácher (El Abuelo, c.1945) → Ricardo Sanchis Carpio (El Nieto, 1989) → Hermanos Sanchis López (sons, active 2026). The two instruments held here document the transmission of the Masanasa workshop tradition across two generations and forty-four years. Tradition & Use
The Valencia negra voice warmer and more rounded than the Andalusian schools is present in El Nieto's construction. The grandson built the way the grandfather built, in the same Masanasa workshop, with the same understanding of what a Valencia guitar is for.
