Juan Hernández · Valencia

La Voz is signed and numbered by Juan Hernández, dated July 13, 2006. Juan Hernández builds in Valencia with limited annual production and no mass market presence. Near mint preservation means it sounds today exactly the way he built it to sound.

Juan Hernández operates an active Valencia workshop. His instruments surface infrequently in specialist trade at this condition level.

Valencia School

La Voz is one of five Valencia school instruments in the collection, alongside El Abuelo (Sanchis Nácher, c.1945), El Nieto (Sanchis Carpio, 1989), La Señora (Alhambra, 2002), and La Serena (Alhambra, 2024). The Valencia school is the most deeply represented in the collection. The full lineage context is covered in the ANICETO University curriculum.

Label confirmed. The instrument has been professionally inspected and conserved to museum standard. Interventions are documented and kept to the minimum the instrument requires. Its structural and provenance record is maintained privately under museum archival standard.

Tradition & Use

La Voz was built for the slower flamenco forms, the ones that ask the guitar to hold a note long enough to mean something. The negra construction gives it the sustain those forms need, and the warm, full voice the name carries.
